This month's driver of the month is amateur John Dunham. John, who lives in Basingstoke UK, races a 1971 March 71BM in the European Historic F2 series.

John started racing in hillclimbs and sprints in a Westfield kit car some 25 years ago, but soon longed for the thrills and spills of circuit racing so took up racing a Caterham 7 with the 750MC, which at the time was a very competitive series.  After 2 seasons of racing the Caterham he managed to secure a drive with the AA Historic racing team which ran two historic formula 2 cars in the European series. In 2002 driving a Braham BT35 he won the Formula Two trophy for the Atlantic class cars.

Having tasted the success and enjoyment of racing in one of Europe’s premium historic series John decided to pursue his active involvement in the series and purchased his March 71BM back in 2005, which he still runs in the series today.  The car, which is sponsored by Goldstar Onboard, the specialists in onboard video and data recording, can be seen racing in the first round of the historic F2 series, the 40th Anniversary meeting at Thruxton, Hampshire over the Easter weekend.

John always uses Willans harnesses in his race cars explains that “ Willans was the best you could get in period some 40 years ago and that remains the same today. When it comes to driver safety there is only one option - Willans."
